Nashville Post: American Physician Partners buys Northeast Tennessee group

Deal grows ER management company by about 15%

Brentwood-based American Physician Partners has acquired an emergency department management peer that contracts with seven hospitals in the Tri-Cities area. The deal grows three-year-old American Physician Partners’ client base to 78 contracts in 14 states.

Terms of the acquisition of Northeast Tennessee Emergency Physicians, which was finalized 10 days ago, aren’t being disclosed. NETEP manages the emergency departments of seven Ballad Health hospitals in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia — Ballad is the new brand name for the organization created from the merger of Mountain States Health Alliance and Wellmont Health System — and employs 59 emergency physicians and 32 advanced practice providers. The company cares for about 192,000 patients annually and grows American Physician Partners’ work by about 15 percent.
