Lincoln County Health System executive leadership announces the hiring if AlignMD Emergency Medicine Management Services to provide physician services in the facility’s emergency room.
The partnership with AlignMD began in March 2015, ending the hospital’s relationship with Team Health, the physician group to which it had previously had contracted ER services since 2001. This change came with much discernment as health system leadership heard the outpouring need for improvements in the emergency department.
“Coming to the emergency room can be a scary situation,“ said John Harding, CEO, Lincoln County Health System. “It is important to have all staff, including physicians, who recognize that element of fear and make the patient feel as comfortable as possible while providing the highest level of quality care.”
“We feel that AlignMD’s values paralleled with our mission and vision for our emergency department and have already proven to be an excellent addition to Lincoln Medical Center.”
As with any major physician group change, there will be a transition period where there is some instability with interim doctors while the permanent candidates are selected, Harding noted. AlignMD is continuing to undergo a rigorous physician recruiting process to make sure that the emergency room department physicians selected for permanent placement are of the highest training, have consistent core values as Lincoln County Health System and are an excellent fit in the community, he added.
In addition to the physician group change, Dorsha James M.D., has been appointed as the new medical director of emergency medicine at Lincoln Medical Center.
In her role, she will promote the effective delivery of emergency services at the hospital’s emergency department, which treats approximately 18,000 patients per year.
Dr. James graduated from University of Memphis with a bachelor of science degree in biology. A graduate of Eastern Tennessee State University James H. Quillen School of Medicine, she completed her residency in emergency medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
Dr. James has impressive credentials and a strong track record,” said Harding. “Moreover she is invested in the community and understands the hospital’s integral role in providing top-notch health care services and a positive experience for patients who visit our hospital.”
