Credentialing Assistant

Position Summary

The Credentialing Assistants will work on a rotating hybrid schedule, with 2 days of in-office work each week.

Responsible for assisting credentialing specialists with administrative duties to ensure providers are in compliance federal, state and hospital requirements; and the credentialing system is updated to reflect current practitioner data. Follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s); notifications; reference guides; policies and procedures, etc.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 40%: Follows up with providers on 30-day expirables to ensure timely renewal and escalates concerns to leadership ensuring providers follow federal, state and hospital requirements
  • 15%: Facilitates, tracks, and ensures timely turnaround/processing for initial licensure, controlled substance and DEA applicants
  • 15%: Onboards locum providers to include collecting required documents, conducting required verifications, and entering data in Credentialing system
  • 10%: Processes status changes to include updating demographic information in the credentialing system and completing facility only and full terminations
  • 5%: Monitor placements to ensure tracking and workflows are set up for both initial credentialing on new providers and existing providers
  • 5%: Assist with reappointments as needed to include running updated primary source verifications, entering new information into credentialing database, merging data into reappointment packet, and collecting provider signatures
  • 10%: All other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates degree preferred
  • At least 3 years of health care experience

Skills Required:

  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Research and analyze data to support decision making
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and internet resources

Abilities Required:

  • Ability to handle and maintain secure files containing sensitive personal information
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff and contacts outside the organization
  • Ability to follow established work-flows; standard operating procedures and corporate policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to serve as company representative
